Latest News Update On 22 September 2022: 20 bogies of goods train derailed on Gaya-DDU railway section at 6.30 am on Wednesday. The accident took place near Kumhau station in Rohtas district. The bogies overturned on both sides of the track after a loud bang. Due to this 13 trains passing through the railway line had to be cancelled. 8 trains had to be partially terminated and 31 had to be diverted.
Commuters had to face hardships as train operations were disrupted due to the accident. The coaches of this goods train were derailed in such a way that the movement of trains on all the three tracks up, down and reversal lines was completely stopped. Long distance trains were run on the changed route. After the incident, the pressure increased due to increased movement of trains on other routes including DDU-Patna railway section.
Trains will be affected on this rail route today and tomorrow also
Trains will also be affected on Thursday and Friday due to relief and rescue work after the accident. Mahabodhi and Buddhapurnima Express will remain canceled on Thursday, while Chopan-Prayagraj, Varanasi-Shaktinagar, Varanasi-Singrauli Express will remain canceled on Thursday and Friday.

The work of lifting the bogies is in progress. Railways has ordered an inquiry into the entire matter. Efforts are on to restore operations for the time being. There was a loud explosion during the time of the incident. Key man Dhanpal Meena was working around the track at the time of the accident. He was seriously injured while trying to escape after seeing the train derail. The exact reason of the event could not be ascertained.
