There are more than three thousand such consumers in Dhanbad Area Board, who are paying fixed charges to the department. In March 2021 itself, instructions were given from the headquarters to deposit the bills by installing meters in all the houses. There are five lakh 40 thousand consumers under Dhanbad Area Board. The departmental officer says that meters will be installed in all the houses by November.

Meter reached Dhanbad Area Board Assistant Engineer Irfan Khan said that meter has been installed in most of the houses of Dhanbad division. There are only 50 consumers in the city, who are still paying fixed charges. Meter will be installed in every house by replacing the old system. For this, a list of consumers has been ready. The meter has reached the department. In a few days, the work of installing meters will be started, so that people will pay the bill on unit basis.

The meter will be installed free of cost in the houses where the meter is not available, the meter will be installed free of cost by the department. Apart from this, free meter will be installed for the consumers who have faulty meters and are paying average bills. The revenue of the department was affected due to payment of fixed charges by the consumers. Regarding this, the department directed to install meters in every house. The department says that up to one kilowatt, Rs 400 was charged. Even after consuming two-three kilowatts by the consumer, only Rs 400 was charged. In view of this, the department directed to install meters in every house.

In the Nabad area board, more than three thousand houses have not installed meters. A target has been set to install meters in all the houses in two months. Under Dhanbad division, 700 houses had to be fitted with meters, where most of them had been installed last time. Those who are left out, the meter will be installed at the consumers' place.
