Latest News Update On 12 October 2022: In the case of monkey killing in Forest Colony, DFO Vimal Lakra suspended in-charge forester Jasim Ansari. The in-charge forester is accused of being negligent in protecting the monkey.
The news of the monkey being found dead in the cage was prominently published by Hindustan. Taking cognizance, the DFO suspended the in-charge forester. On 30 September, a monkey was handed over to the forest department from Satyam Nagar in the city. Forest officer RK Singh had given the responsibility of keeping the monkey to the in-charge forester Jasim Ansari. But suddenly on 1 October, the in-charge forester informed the department that the monkey had died inside the cage. Not only this, his hand was also broken before killing the monkey. The DFO has written in its letter that from the reply given by Jasim to the show-cause of the department, it appears that no effort was made to keep the monkey safe. Due to this the monkey was found dead in its cage on 1 October.

The complaint had reached to Maneka Gandhi
People for Animals member Rana Ghosh had complained about the monkey killing in Dhanbad to former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi. The forest department also raced after this. On the other hand, Surendra Arora of Bankmore Chamber tweeted the news of Hindustan and demanded action from Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
