Recently, two such passengers who smuggled gold have been caught by the customs department from the airport. A passenger had gold filled inside 18 toffees. While the other was carrying the gold hidden in a capsule-shaped pouch. About 1 kg of gold has been recovered from both of them, the value of which is said to be around 50 lakh Rupees.
As per custom, a passenger from Muscat arrived at Terminal 3 of IGI. When the customs department searched him, a lot of toffees were found in his bag. When I opened them, there was gold inside 18 toffees. He told that he had brought the gold hidden from Muscat. 355 grams of gold was recovered from him. At the same time, when an Indian from Bangkok was examined, two capsule-like pouches were found with him. He had hidden 652 grams of gold in these pouches.
Dollars were found in the button of the lehenga
On August 30, a traveler going abroad was caught by the CISF. A special kind of lehenga was found in her bag, whose buttons were of dollars. When they were taken out, they got around Rs 41 lakh. A large amount of lehenga buttons were found from his bag and dollars were kept hidden inside all these.
Drugs are brought in capsules
Drug smugglers also bring capsules of drugs in their bodies through the airport. Many such smugglers have been caught from Delhi airport. Most of them are Afghan citizens. They are fed special capsules of heroin and cocaine abroad, the upper part of which is made of rubber. Due to this it does not dissolve in the body. After coming to Delhi, capsules are taken out through defecation. After that it is sold.
He was wearing gold bangles worth 51 lakhs in his hands
In another case, six passengers who had come from Muscat have been arrested by the customs. They have found 14 gold bangles which they were wearing in their hands. He told that he had to give these bangles to a person outside the airport. The bangles weigh around 1100 grams and cost more than Rs 51 lakh. The Customs Department is probing the matter.
